Writing data to recordable compact disc is a complex process which demands a great deal from both hardware and software. Most of this complexity is hidden from the user by the power of the program, but you should be aware of these factors which influence the success of the operation.

"Buffer under-run errors are probably the most common error encountered during CDR creating." Have a read below to try & establish what your problem might be.

Windows 95, by default will automatically control all caching activities required by your Computer system. This default caching is normally very good but leads to problems for users of CD Writers.

This procedure assumes you are happy with your current install of Windows 95 & programs & purely want to copy it to your new HDD & remove your old C:drive. You would then fit this new HDD as the primary HDD - to run Windows from. You could always plug in your old drive, later for storing files on.

This procedure assumes you want to 'plug in' a brand new HDD which is more than likely, unformatted & unpartitioned, & you want to 'do' a fresh install of Windows 95.

Web  |  It is important that the SCSI chain is properly terminated, i.e. the first and last device in the chain must have a terminator. ( Diagram 1 ) The terminator is simply a pack of resistors which electrically control any spurious signal reflections from the ends of the SCSI cables.

Web  |  You may have seen on the data sheets of CD-R drives terms such as "Track-at-Once", "Disc-at Once", and "Track Incremental". So just what does that mean? Well, to begin with, CD-R drives do not write data in the way a hard disk or other storage drive writes.
sessmain.htm
Web  |  Multisession discs are recorded according to the Orange Book Part II standard, which states that they can be written in either the CD-ROM or CD-ROM XA physical format. It does not matter which; theoretically, you could even mix the two formats on one disc.
